How quickly can a tracker be fitted?

Most installs take 60-90 minutes. We have mobile fitting across Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Cheshire and Merseyside, and a workshop in Kirkham for more complex jobs. We can usually book you in within 5-7 days.

Where is the tracker hidden?

In a discreet, concealed location decided per vehicle - we never give specifics publicly because thieves read websites too. The placement is chosen so it survives normal servicing without being disturbed.

Can a thief disable the tracker?

It is hard, but no security device is impossible to defeat given enough time. The tracker is hardwired with tamper detection - any cut to its power or attempt at removal triggers an immediate alarm. Our Premium plan adds a battery-backed secondary unit for redundancy.

Will it drain my battery?

No. The current draw is tiny - similar to leaving the cabin clock running. We have customers who park up for weeks at a time without issue.

Does it work in Europe?

Yes. Our SIM has roaming included across 30+ European countries. Tracking continues seamlessly when you cross the channel.

Is the tracker insurance-recognised?

Yes. Our hardware is recognised by major UK insurers and we provide an installation certificate you can submit for a premium discount. Some insurers will require a Thatcham category S5 / S7 tracker on certain high-value vehicles before they will insure them at all - our system meets that requirement.

What happens if my vehicle is stolen?

The on-board unit detects unauthorised movement, fires an alarm, and our 24/7 monitoring centre opens an incident within seconds. We call you immediately, lock the tracker on the vehicle, and start the recovery process - liaising with police and recovery teams as the case develops.

What is the recovery rate?

Industry-published recovery rates for monitored trackers sit in the 90s percent range, often quoted at 98% by manufacturers. Compare that to the UK average for stolen vehicles overall, which is around 50%. Speed of response is what makes the difference.

How much does it cost?

April pricing for North West Car Group customers: £299 first year for Protect (saving £200 off RRP), £399 first year for Protect & Retrieve Premium. Renewal is £10/month or £15/month respectively from year two. Fleet pricing is tailored to vehicle count - request a quote.

Are there any hidden fees?

No. The price covers hardware, fitting, SIM, monitoring and (on Premium) recovery service for the first year. After year one you pay the renewal fee or stop monitoring - your choice. No auto-rolling subscriptions.

Will my insurer give me a discount?

Many will, especially on premium and high-risk vehicles. Discounts vary - we provide the certificate, you submit it to your insurer.

Can I cancel?

Yes. You can cancel monitoring at the end of any billing period - the hardware stays yours.

How is data protected?

Everything is encrypted in transit and at rest. Your tracking data is yours - we never sell it. See our privacy policy for the full detail.

Does it cover vans, motorhomes and plant?

Yes - we install on cars, vans, motorhomes, caravans, trailers, mobile plant and full commercial fleets. Each install is surveyed individually.

Can I track from my phone?

Yes. The customer portal is fully responsive and we have iOS and Android apps. Live map, alerts, history and account management all available on mobile.

What if I sell the vehicle?

You have two options: transfer the unit and monitoring to your new vehicle (we charge a small re-fit fee), or transfer the live unit to the new owner along with any remaining monitoring period. Both common, both fine.

Can I add geofences myself?

Yes. Draw zones on the map in the portal, set alerts (entry, exit, time-based) and save. As many geofences as you like.

Is there a contract?

Year one is paid up front - no monthly contract during that period. From year two it is rolling month-to-month with the option of an annual discount if you prefer.
